Tonalli "Sun" Rebozo Scarf
Handwoven rebozo scarf from Santa María del Río. Crafted on a traditional pedal loom and finished by hand using the repacejo braiding technique, it embodies the heritage of a centuries-old Mexican textile tradition.
Tonalli — "Sun" in Náhuatl — references the warmth and energy of the daytime sky. The multicolor stripes celebrate the chromatic vocabulary of Mexican craft, woven by an artisan women's collective preserving a tradition that fuses indigenous and Spanish textile heritage.
Each rebozo is unique. Slight variations in tone and pattern are inherent to the handmade process and signal the integrity of the craft.
